چکیده

Additive manufacturing is a promising tool for tailored solutions in chemical engineering. This applies particular to the design of lab-scale packed bed columns. We present experimental results characterize 3D printed structured metal packing and compare it conventional counterpart. The indicate that necessary adjustments process material have an influence on important operating parameters, resulting higher specific pressure drop, slightly liquid holdup lower mass transfer efficiency.

Wall Effect in 3D Simulation Of Same Sized Particles Packing

In this paper, the effects of container size on the porosity of random loose packing of mono size particles have been investigated using an Event Dynamics (ED) based model. Simultaneous effects of square container walls on particles packing and their order are also investigated. Our simulation results indicate higher container size will increase the total packing factor and high density regions...

HETP Evaluation of Structured and Randomic Packing Distillation Column

Packed columns are equipment commonly found in absorption, distillation, stripping, heat exchangers and other operations, like removal of dust, mist and odors and for other purposes. Mass transfer between phases is promoted by their intimate contact through all the extent of the packed bed. The main factors involving the design of packed columns are mechanics and equipment efficiency. Among the...

Fatigue Characterization of 3d Printed Elastomer Material

The Objet PolyJet 3D Printing process provides the ability to print graded materials featuring both stiff and elastomeric polymers. This capability allows for a variety of new design possibilities for additive manufacturing such as living hinges, shock absorbing casings, and integrated gaskets. Such design features typically rely upon the ability of traditional elastomers to experience large an...

Characterization of 3D Printed Fracture Networks

Tracer testing has been used to obtain hydraulic properties in a reservoir system and may help characterize the fracture networks inside the reservoir. Numerous studies at various scales have shown that the distribution of many fracture properties (i.e., length, displacement) follows a power law scaling with some cutoffs. Fractal dimension is useful to evaluate the geometric characteristics of ...

Experimental Exploration of Metal Cable as Reinforcement in 3D Printed Concrete

The Material Deposition Method (MDM) is enjoying increasing attention as an additive method to create concrete mortar structures characterised by a high degree of form-freedom, a lack of geometrical repetition, and automated construction. Several small-scale structures have been realised around the world, or are under preparation. However, the nature of this construction method is unsuitable fo...
